Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has turned down a staggering £200 million offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal, opting to remain at Old Trafford and continue competing at the highest level in European football.
The Saudi club’s proposal included a £100 million transfer fee to Manchester United and a £100 million salary over two years for the Portuguese midfielder. Despite the financial allure, Fernandes, under contract with United until 2027, chose to stay, valuing elite competition and discussions with his family and manager Rúben Amorim.
Al Hilal had previously attempted to sign Fernandes in January, but United rejected their advances. The Saudi club is reportedly planning a third meeting with Fernandes’ representatives in a final push for a summer transfer.
Fernandes’ decision to stay is a significant boost for United as they look to rebuild after a disappointing season. The club has already secured the signing of forward Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million and is expected to offload players including Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Antony to bolster manager Rúben Amorim’s £100 million summer transfer budget.
